1999.3/.2 Herbert A. Simon等來函

 Dear Mr. Cheng:

I forgot to answer one of your questions in my last message -- where
to get more information about my publications. The address of my
home page on the WWW is:

http://www.psy.cmu.edu/psy/faculty/hsimon/hsimon.html

At the very end of the page you will find a cross-reference to
five other files that contain my complete bibliography, arranged
chronologically. On the home page you will also find a short list of
some recent publications, and similar lists on my other web pages
in Computer Science, Philosophy, and GSIA (our School of Business).

Sincerely yours,

Herbert A. Simon

 Dear Hanching Chung
I had a browse around your web site today. It was quite interesting
although, of course, mostly unreadable to me!
Your paper on Pareto was of particular interest, you might like to read
this document on my web site: http://www.tetramain.co.uk/pareto.htm
There are several other papers there which may be of interest to you.
The TML site is currently being rebuilt. I put it together some time ago
and Internet technology has moved on a long way since then. It looks
rather dated - but at least it loads quickly!
I look forward to your further contributions to the DEN
Yours
PH

About the Deming Institute and the Community Partnership Project The W. Edwards Deming Institute is a nonprofit organization founded by Dr. Deming shortly before his death. In 1994, Institute participants launched the Community Partnership Project to study the applicability of Dr. Deming's theories to community issues. One aim of the project is to increase the body of transferable knowledge related to effectively managing the interactions that sustain community life and to share that knowledge with communities worldwide. An equally important second aim of the project is to make a real improvement in the quality of life in the partner community. The City of Tacoma and Pierce Co. in Washington State, joined the Institute's Community Partnership Project in 1996. In 1997, the partners launched an ongoing improvement initiative to reduce family violence in the community.
ASQ-AQP joint initiative featured Organizations supporting the Community Symposium include the Community Quality Councils Committee (CQCC) of the American Society for Quality (ASQ) and the Association for Quality and Participation (AQP). During the Spring Conference, a joint CQCC-AQP effort to initiate a national Community Quality Alliance will be explored in a session featuring Ackoff's concept of interactive planning as a means of inventing the future. Dr. William Roth will facilitate the session, during which participants will envision an idealized design for the CQCC-AQP initiative in a real-world exercise in collaboration across organizational boundaries.
Successful futures -- both in organizations and in communities -- depend on using the principles of quality improvement and systems thinking as a framework for interactively re-thinking and re-creating our organizations. The Deming Institute's Spring Conference explores these concepts through three types of concurrent sessions. Application sessions examine methods and models for supporting organizational and community change efforts. Theory sessions provide serious scholars opportunities to engage in an inquiry into the relationship between social science theory and Deming's System of Profound Knowledge through small group conversations led by prominent thinkers. Experiential learning sessions serve both as a "Trainers' Exchange" forum and as opportunities to deepen personal insight and growth.
